Honors in the Major track

Description

  • Allows transfer students
  • and students who have not joined the Honors College from high school
  • to have an enriched Honors experience primarily within their major

  • Opportunity to have an Honors experience through individualized projects and faculty mentoring in Honors classes
  • Honors designation and thesis title listed on transcript
  • Recognition as an Honors in the Major graduate during the Honors College Graduation Banquet and University Commencement ceremonies

Eligibility

  • 3.5 GPA or higher at the time of application
  • Have earned between 45 and 75 hours of college credit by their first semester as an Honors in the Major student
  • a maximum of 24 hours of AP, dual enrollment, IB, or other credit earned while in high school can apply towards this 45 hour requirement

Curriculum

  • 18 Honors credit hours total
  • 3-6 hours Capstone Experience/Thesis (CE/T)
  • 9-12 hours of upper-division Honors credit in the first Major (depending on 3 or 6 hour CE/T)
  • 3-6 hours of Honors Electives at any level/major (depending on 3 or 6 hour CE/T)

Good Standing

  • 3.2 cumulative GPA
  • 3h of Honors taken each semester
  • By 90h, enrollment in HON 403 CE/T credit
